Synthesis of deoxypropionates using a combination of enzymatic desymmetrisation and substrate controlled conjugate addition

Abstract: The all-syn deoxypropionate motif can be efficiently constructed using a combination of enzymatic desymmetrization and substrate-controlled conjugate addition of lithium dimethylcopper. This strategy was used to prepare mycocerosic acid, from Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and the sex pheromone of Margarodes prieskaensis (Jakubski), both in 10% overall yield.
