Disrupted Human–Dog Interbrain Neural Coupling in Autism‐Associated Shank3 Mutant Dogs (Adv. Sci. 41/2024)
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Dog–Human Interbrain Activity Coupling In article number 2402493, Wei Ren, Yong Q. Zhang, and co-workers explore interbrain activity coupling during human–dog interactions, revealing that mutual gaze and petting enhance brain activity synchronization. Dogs carrying autism-linked Shank3 mutations display impaired brain activity coupling and reduced attention; these deficits can be rescued by the psychedelic LSD. This study offers new insights into the neural underpinnings of interspecies communication and potential therapeutic strategies for social deficits. Art design by Rui Xie.
