Abstract: For new and even seasoned nonprofit executive directors, building a strong and effective working relationship with a board chair can be a daunting challenge. Data show that board chairs don't stay in that position for long—often, just a year or two—so it's critical for these two individuals to establish a rapport and learn quickly to work together to help the organization pursue its mission in an efficient and effective manner.
