Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Outcomes in Patients with Psoriasis
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Patients with psoriasis are at increased risk of developing comorbid inflammatory diseases, including psoriatic arthritis and cardiometabolic disease (Armstrong and Read, 2020). Recent literature suggests that patients with psoriasis are also at increased risk of developing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) (Ungprasert et al, 2016). COPD is associated with high morbidity—ranging from acute COPD exacerbations to chronic pulmonary hypertension and respiratory failure—and mortality (Rabe et al, 2007).
