Transition radiation from particle showers

Abstract: When a particle shower goes through two different dielectric media, transition radiation is emitted. We present results obtained using the ZHS Monte Carlo across various scenarios, examining how the properties of the two media influence the resulting radio pulse. We also discuss the viability of the explanation of the ANITA anomalous events as transition radiation from a particle shower.
