The Role of Socioeconomic Factors in Shaping Health Outcomes among Vulnerable Populations

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Socioeconomic factors, including income, education, employment, and social support, play a pivotal role in shaping health outcomes, particularly among vulnerable populations. This paper examines how these determinants interact to influence physical and mental health disparities. Drawing on data from multiple studies, the paper highlights the compounded impact of socioeconomic deprivation on access to healthcare, exposure to stressors, and lifestyle choices. Vulnerable populations, such as low-income families, ethnic minorities, and individuals with limited educational attainment, experience disproportionate health risks. This review underscores the need for targeted interventions to address socioeconomic inequalities, which are essential for improving public health and reducing disparities. Emphasis is placed on policy implications, including the need for accessible healthcare, education, and employment opportunities, to promote health equity across socioeconomic groups.
