Abstract: Introduction: According to the World Obesity Federation, it is predicted that more than half of the world’s population will be overweight or obese by 2035, revealing an alarming epidemiological scenario that deserves attention. Overweight and obesity are known causes of diseases and physical disabilities, and also play a precursor role in the risk of cardiovascular events. Objectives: To map the scientific evidence for pharmaceutical treatment with semaglutide in obesity. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review, using the PIco strategy as a strategy for the research question. The following descriptors/keywords were used for the search: “semaglutide treatment”, “obesity”, and in English “semaglutide treatment”, “obesity”, from which search equations were developed to collect the articles. In the end, 6 studies were selected, 4 from the PubMed database, 1 from Scielo via BVS and 1 from the Cochrane Library. Results: They are presented through a table describing the articles found in the search for the integrative literature review according to the database, author(s), year, objectives, methods, results and conclusion. The articles were identified with numbers, from 1 to 6, in order of the most recent published in the Crochrane Liabry, Scielo via Pubmed and BVS databases, through the keywords. Conclusion: The results presented in this research affirm that the use of medications such as semaglutide has shown that semaglutide can significantly reduce weight, improve glycemic control, reduce glycosylated hemoglobin levels in patients with type 2 diabetes and improve health-related quality, also bringing cardiovascular benefits.
