Abstract: Introduction: Sickle cell anaemia is an inherited blood disorder widely prevalent in the west African sub-region. Children born with this disorder experience frequent episodes of pain and other morbidities requiring hospitalization. Knowledge of the medical complications which commonly present in various regions and centers is important, as it can help clinicians with prompt identification of symptoms, and institution of relevant medical care and treatment. This would greatly benefit outcome.
