Abstract: Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) stands for 2-3 % of all neoplasms worldwide. The most important risk factors identified for RCC are obesity, hypertension, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and tobacco use. Nowadays, more than 50 % of RCCs are detected incidentally. There are multiple therapeutic strategies to treat RCC, ranging from active surveillance or nephrectomy for localized disease to combinations of targeted therapies and immunotherapy for patients with advanced disease.
