De La Plata a Chilecito (La Rioja, Argentina): una embajada de la academia artística en el Famatina
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: The Samay Huasi house (National University of La Plata, Argentina) preserves an art collection made up of more than 70 pieces, including paintings, engravings and sculptures. At the origin of this collection are the visits that the artists of the sociability circle of Joaquín V. González made to that farm at the beginning of the 20th century, invited by whoever was the founder of the UNLP and owner of those lands in the vicinity of Chilecito, La Rioja, Argentina. In this work I seek to provide elements to understand the history of the formation of that collection whose destiny was linked to the various cultural policies of the UNLP over time. Authorities, artists and teachers of that institution were active agents in the construction of links between two geographically separated spaces, as were the images produced in Samay Huasi that circulated between La Rioja and La Plata.
