Abstract: This text deals with a report on countryside education in a school in Rio Grande do Sul/Brazil. The narrative is built from the perspective of a Physical Education teacher who becomes the principal of a countryside school and is faced with situations and demands that make the process particular of an education from the countryside, produced and signified by the people who live and work in this reality. By problematizing these questions, it decides to carry out a research participation, creating dialogues with different segments of the school, to seek alternatives to the project of extinction of countryside education that is imposed by neo-liberal policies. The guiding question of the text was thus delimited: how have the experiences of a teacher and principal made it possible to signify the struggle for countryside education? The study has a qualitative approach, with a critical-participatory focus, and uses conversation circles as the main tool for gathering information. The dialogues and criticisms coming from the production of information from the ongoing participant research, point to processes of awareness and political mobilization for the right to a countryside education.
