Abstract: This article aims to present aspects of Early Childhood Education in the Countryside, understanding its specificities and correlating them to the Pedagogical Political Project of a Municipal Center for Education in the Countryside (CMEIC), revealing what is established (or not) with the purposes of a countryside pedagogical practice. The methodology is based on a qualitative analysis, using a bibliographical and documentary approach, and a questionnaire answered by the teachers. The results show gaps regarding the concept of rural education, partially meeting the needs of the rural community and that the pedagogical project of the CMEIC investigated, in general, converges with this concept. It was concluded that school education in the countryside needs to ensure specificities in its pedagogical project, respecting the everyday practices of these communities, thus building a humanistic and emancipatory process for the subjects.
