Abstract: The article examines the ideas of a new philosophical trend in Western philosophy- “speculative realism”, which arose as a reaction to the dominance of idealistic post-Kantian philosophy, called correlationism and its varieties. The arguments and counterarguments of the criticism of correlationism on the most important philosophical question of the existence of things in themselves or “in themselves”, are analyzed. It is shown what influence the Galilean-Copernican revolution had on the formation of scientific and philosophical standards. A conclusion is formulated about the heuristic significance and limitations of the proposed direction.
