Abstract: Energy harvesting techniques can lead to a more sustainable operation of low-powered IoT devices, i.e., they can operate batteryless, have a low CO2 footprint, and are easily maintained (no battery replacement). With that in mind, we propose LIGHTED, a muLtIenerGy Harvesting TEstbeD capable of handling solar, thermal, kinetic, and RF sources, and that allows validation and testing of batteryless IoT devices. With the assistance of a modular capacitor bank and input/output power measurements, LIGHTED allows developers to validate the energy requirements of batteryless IoT devices. LIGHTED's design is expected to maximize its energy conversion efficiency and to provide several energy storage configurations, allowing for testing devices in multiple setups.
