Abstract: Objective: This study aimed to identify the most common bacteriological flora in chronic otitis media (COM) cases and assess the management using culture-sensitive antibacterial agents. A descriptive prospective study Methods: was conducted from January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2023. Patients with active ear discharge for at least three months were included, while those with prior ear surgery, trauma, or fungal infections were excluded. Bacteriological analysis and culture sensitivity testing were performed on collected swabs. Among the participants, the majority Results: were males aged 21 to 30 years. Left ear involvement was noted in 58% of cases, with 44% experiencing a disease duration of 7 to 12 months. Pseudomonas aeruginosa was the predominant isolate, followed by Staphylococcus aureus. Cefoperazone-sulbactam demonstrated the highest sensitivity, while most isolates showed resistance to amoxicillin and clavulanic acid. Chronic otitis media is a significant cause of hearing loss worldwide. It is extre Conclusions: mely important to find the organism before starting treatment. The study underscores the importance of culture-sensitive testing in guiding effective treatment and preventing antibiotic resistance, highlighting Pseudomonas aeruginosa as a major pathogen in these cases.
