Abstract: As an expansion of genre analysis, critical genre analysis focuses not only on text-internal properties, but also on text-external factors. It is a multi-perspective and multidimensional genre analyzing approach, aiming at explaining professional practices under academic and professional context. Based on critical genre analysis, referring to the four-layered analyzing model put forward by Bahtia (2008), this paper makes a critical genre analysis on company profiles of 20 famous companies from China and America, in an attempt to study the interactive relationship between professional practice, professional culture and genre resources.
