Abstract: Left-handed behavior of Fe73.5Cu1Nb3Si13.5B9 (at.%) nanocrystalline ferromagnetic microwires arranged in parallel configurations as free-standing systems in order to develop new metastructures for GHz shielding applications were studied. Microwires with metallic diameters of 60 μm were obtained by cold-drawing process followed by annealing at 500oC for 1 h. The left-handed behavior of the metastructures was investigated in the frequency range 8.2 ÷ 12.4 GHz and confirmed by simulations using the Nicolson-Ross-Weir analytical method. The variation of the interwire distance proves to be a useful tool to obtain metastructures with suitable left-handed characteristics for GHz applications.
