Application of Langmuir Technology for Profiling Free Fatty Acids by Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Mass Spectrometry

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: The application of Langmuir technology for analyzing free fatty acids makes it possible to obtain monolayers consisting of barium monocarboxylates, while the characteristic isotopic distribution of barium makes it possible to simplify the identification of compounds containing this element in mass spectra. The formation of monomolecular Langmuir films directly on the surface of the matrix-assisted laser desorption/ ionization of the target, reduces and simplifies sample preparation, at the same time as increasing the sensitivity of the technique for profiling of free fatty acids in biological samples of different origin.
