A one-stone-two-birds strategy to prepare thermal comfort triboelectric sensing leather

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Leather has the advantages of good physical and mechanical properties, biocompatibility and biodegradability, and has been widely concerned in the field of wearable electronics. However, weak triboelectric polarity and poor thermal comfort when worn for long periods in hot weather have severely limited the development of high-performance triboelectric sensing leather. Herein, a fluoro-polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane composite material (FPOSS) was designed and synthesized to modify leather collagen fiber. The –F group on FPOSS was used to enhance the electron absorption ability of leather and improve the triboelectric self-energy sensing performance of leather. In addition, the high infrared emissivity of the rich Si–O–Si bond in FPOSS in the long-wave infrared region (8–13 μm) gives the leather radiative cooling properties, and a kind of thermal comfort triboelectric sensing leather is prepared. The results show that the leather has extremely high sensitivity (1.88V/kPa) and good stability, and its performance is basically stable after 8500 cycles of testing. In addition, daytime radiation cooling of 10 °C can be achieved to meet the thermal comfort of human skin in hot environments. This study provides a new idea for the design and development of wearable thermal comfort self-powered electronic products, and provides a new way to promote the development of high value leather industry.
