Thérèse d’Avila en Afrique : Voir Dieu sans mourir marty

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: . The historical context of the emergence of Teresa of Avila's quest for God is marked by the religious and social tensions of medieval Spain, where Christians, Muslims and Jews coexisted. This difficult coexistence influenced the life and spirituality of Teresa, who dreamt of martyrdom in Africa in order to see God, and of female emancipation despite the obstacles. Faced with an environment of religious and social divisions, Thérèse sought to deconstruct community values, fighting injustice against women and slaves in particular, while advocating equality and peace. The charism of Teresa of Avila is based on profound human values and a rich spiritual culture. Raised in a close-knit family, she learned charity, prayer and the importance of virtue, particularly through the example of her parents. Thérèse also cultivated a love of literature, studying with spiritual masters. Finally, her attachment to God and her love of divine things shaped her spiritual quest, making her a daring reformer of the Carmelite nuns and an inspirational figure. This charism is echoed in Africa, where these values and principles can be found. Africa is no longer the continent where people die, but rather where hope is reborn, where it is possible to live perfect love, a love turned towards others. For Thérèse d'Avila, life is a path of perfection, a constant march towards God and towards people. Mots-clés : Dieu – Charisme – Femme – Valeur – Épanouissement.
