Unnoticed breakage of airway exchange catheter during nasal endotracheal tube exchange

Abstract: During unanticipated difficult intubation, amidst the various attempts and techniques, the anaesthesiologist tries using various airway adjuvants to facilitate endotracheal intubation. After successful intubation, seldom do we check the integrity of adjuvants used. Our case report emphasizes on the need of checking integrity of airway adjuvants after their use in emergency situations. In addition, the report also highlights the fact that, adjuvants on the difficult airway cart must be checked daily for quality, friability, stickiness, any cracks, bends, damages, pliability, their mere presence on difficult airway cart is of little significance.
