Abstract: The article reflects the selection of topics presented in the Språkporten textbook and on the degree of their usefulness while developing intercultural competence. The text is intended to advise teachers of Swedish what cultural content they can expect in the analyzed textbook, but above all it is intended to help raise awareness how cultural elements can and should be used during classes which can be relevant for teachers of all foreign languages. The structure of qualitative analysis is determined by the layered model of culture proposed by Hofstede. The analysis showed that the Språkporten textbook can be considered useful, both in terms of knowledge resources about Sweden and in terms of texts thematizing the necessity of coping with challenges in the space between to cultures.
