Influence and Optimization of Nozzle Position on Lubricant Distribution in an Angular Contact Ball Bearing Cavity

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: In this paper, the lubrication flow field model for an angular contact ball bearing considering the characteristics of the nozzle position was constructed with CFD methods, and the simulation results were compared and validated with the test results. The research was carried out on the lubricant distribution characteristics in the bearing cavity under different nozzle angles and heights, and the nozzle position was optimized with the response surface methodology. The results show that the lubrication distribution characteristics in the bearing cavity are closely related to the nozzle angle and height. The weighted average of the oil phase volume fraction on the cage guiding surface decreases first and then increases with the increase of the nozzle height and decreases with the increase of the nozzle angle on the ball surface. The optimal nozzle position was determined by finding the maximum value of the regression function in the specified area.
