Abstract: The paper shows that when calculating the trajectories of solid particles in two-phase flows, it is necessary to consider their surface shape. The analysis of the relative errors in calculating the aerodynamic drag coefficient of non-spherical particles by known approximations is carried out. A universal dependence of the aerodynamic drag coefficient on the geometric coefficient of the particle shape for the transient values of the Reynolds number is proposed. The paper focuses on the fact that the calculated value of the geometric shape coefficient directly depends on the method of calculating the equivalent diameter of a non-spherical particle. Laboratory tests of the deposition of particles of quartzite, propane, silica gel and granular cooper slag in water were carried out, because of which calculated values of geometric shape coefficients were analytically obtained. The proposed mathematical models for describing the trajectories and velocities of non-spherical particles along an inclined shelf and in an air, environment have been experimentally tested and have shown good convergence of the results.
