Memory dissonance and competitive discourses about the past on the example of the legacy of the “Gryf Pomorski” Secret Military Organisation

Abstract: In the article, we present the circumstances surrounding the establishment and activities of the “Gryf Pomorski” secret military organisation and contemporary forms of its commemoration in the context of historical policy. We discuss the causes and effects of the conflict over the memory of the partisans of “Gryf Pomorski” and the manifestations of competing discourses about them. The basis of the analysis are materials collected during ethnographic field research in Pomerania.
