Peliosanthes clarkei comb. & stat. nov. (Asparagaceae: Convallarioideae)

Abstract: Peliosanthes violacea Wall. ex Baker was first published containing three varieties namely var. clarkei Baker, var. minor Baker, and var. princeps Baker. Recently, var. minor is elevated as a distinct species named P. pumila N. Tanaka, whereas var. princeps is retained as the synonym under P. violacea. Based on the observations of comparative morphology as well as phenology, we upraise here another variety namely var. clarkei to the status of species, as Peliosanthes clarkei (Baker) D.K. Roy, Y. Mahesh, R. Lytan & N. Odyuo. The description and illustration are provided.
