Notes on the taxonomy of Coelogyne albolutea Rolfe – an endemic orchid species from India

Abstract: Morphological characters of Coelogyne albolutea Rolfe [ORCHIDACEAE-EPIDENDROIDEAE-ARETHUSEAECOELOGYNINAE] has been examined and compared with that of allied species in Coelogyne Section Flaccidae. The species was found as conspecific with Coelogyne flaccida Lindl. The taxonomic consequences have been discussed and lectotype has been designated for Coelogyne flaccida Lindl. By following the IUCN guidelines, Coelogyne flaccida has been assessed as ‘Vulnerable’ in Indian perspective.
