Physics of optimal regimes of gravitational separation

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Physics of the gravitational separation process determines hydrodynamic interaction of solid particles and moving medium. The existing theories of this process are mainly based on velocity-related hypothesis. However, it is rather sketchy and does not explain many experimentally revealed phenomena and regularities. A structural model of the process, which takes into account the character of changes in two-phase flow velocity over the apparatus cross-section, expands the scope of the velocity-based hypothesis. It provides a complete description of all experimentally found phenomena and regularities from the standpoint of a unified approach. Ill. 9. Ref. 5.
