Abstract: The structure of 1,3-diphosphaallene 2 and reactions with carbenes to compounds 3–5 featuring a 1,3-diphospha-1,3-butadiene unit and with trimethylsilyldiazomethane to the metallaheterocycle 6 featuring a diphosphacyclobutene ring is reported.
