Analysis of Changes in Chinese Resident Consumption from 2015 to 2022: Based on Provincial Data
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: This paper uses a literature review analysis method to examine the changes in Chinese residents' per capita consumption expenditure and consumption structure from 2015 to 2022. It also explores the urban-rural consumption gap and the impact of force majeure factors on the consumption levels of Chinese residents across different regions. The paper concludes with a summary of the data and some recommendations for boosting the economy. The research finds that force majeure factors such as diseases have a significant impact on Chinese residents' consumption. In the first year of a disaster, consumption levels drop noticeably, significantly reducing people's welfare. Although the expected trend of per capita consumption levels in China has declined, it has not hindered the narrowing of the urban-rural consumption gap nor the improvement and optimization of the consumption structure. The impact of force majeure factors varies significantly across different regions. In the short term, the impact is more pronounced in developed coastal areas, while it is less significant in remote underdeveloped areas. In the longer term (2015 to 2022), the gap in consumption levels between the northern and southern regions has widened
