Musical and stylistic features of spiritual verse in the studies of the 20th – early 21st century: directions and approaches

Abstract: The purpose of the study is to generalize and systematize the scientific and practical experience of studying the musical and stylistic features of spiritual verse in the 20th - early 21st century. For the first time, the paper analyzes the main aspects in the development of spiritual verse by musicology not only as a component of the genre system of Russian folk art, but also as an actual sphere of professional compositional art, which determines the scientific novelty of the study. The article examines the main musicological approaches to the study of the phenomenon of spiritual verse as a vast field of folklore, as a section of the general history of music, as well as as an object of artistic interpretations in the works of modern Russian composers. As a result of the consideration of the main scientific approaches to the study of musical and stylistic features of spiritual verse in the 20th – early 21st century, it was possible to identify the most important trajectories of research in the development of this phenomenon by domestic musicology.
