Abstract: This study aimed to investigate the effects of velocity-based training on throwers' quickness and agility. The study divided 24 throwers into training and control groups in Region K, Korea.During the 12-week training program, the training group performed VBT training three times per week, and the weight training was measured by bench press and squat speed. The training group used a linear position transducer (VBT) to progress with a weight of 70% of their 1RM at a speed of 0.75 m/s, with real-time feedback as they completed the progression. The control group performed bodyweight training only. The pre-and post-training tests measured four events: long jump in place, 30-meter dash, shot put forward and shot put back. The results showed that the experimental group showed significant differences in the long jump in place (Z=-3.070,p<.01), shot put forward (Z=-2.98,p<.01), shot put back (Z=-3.06,p<.01), and 30-meter run (Z=-3.06,p<.01).In contrast, the control group showed significant differences in the shot put forward (Z=-2.867, p<.01) and backward throw of the shot put (Z=-3.063,p<.01), but not the long jump in place (Z=-1.130,p=ns) or the 30-meter run (Z=-2.867,p=ns)..These results suggest that VBT training can improve quickness and agility, the most important foundational fitness skills for throwers.
