Density corrugation due to beating of two modes of a quasi-electrostatic wave near the upper hybrid resonance

Abstract: The effect of beating of two modes of a quasi-electrostatic wave near the linear-mode conversion point in magnetized plasmas is analyzed in the kinetic approximation. It is shown that the effect is accompanied by spatial modulation and corrugation of the plasma density profile.
