Abstract: The article discusses the implementation of an Expert System (ES) for aircraft fault diagnosis, highlighting the complexity of modern systems and the need for qualified mechanics. The ES uses heuristics and a knowledge base to diagnose issues, allowing mechanics to follow a structured methodology during maintenance. Through inference rules, the ES not only improves efficiency in identifying faults but also elevates the professional level of mechanics by providing continuous and well-founded support. The adoption of this system can lead to more effective and safer maintenance of the Brazilian Air Force aircraft.
