Investigation of the wear resistance of surface layered by MMA and carbonitriding layers on structural alloy steel

Abstract: . This study investigates the wear resistance of surfaces layered by MMA welding followed by carbonitriding, deposited on a 40X structural alloy steel. The primary objective is to develop a technology for restoring worn surfaces of shafts operating in marine environments. Wear resistance was evaluated using a "block-on-ring" test. The microstructure and properties of the obtained layers were analyzed using standard metallographic techniques, including macro and microstructural analysis and microhardness testing. The results of this study will serve as a basis for developing an effective repair technology for shafts used in marine equipment.
