Abstract: The flexible cathode method is considered, recommended for the analytical determination of internal stresses in galvanic coatings when restoring worn machine parts. To determine the absolute values of internal stresses in coatings, formulas are proposed that take into account the thickness of the cathode, coating, and radius of curvature of the cathode-coating system. The proposed method is simple and free from many of the disadvantages inherent in many common mechanical methods for measuring and calculating internal stresses in electroplated coatings.
