Abstract: It is easy to forget that same-sex relationships were frowned upon just not too long ago in the US (and unfortunately still are in many other parts of the world), with deleterious effects on individuals who identify as LGBTQIA+. Stressors confronting this group range from social disapproval to discrimination and hate crimes and has led to much scientific research examining and documenting health disparities by sexual identity. However, as attitudes towards same-sex relationships change over time, and at different rates in different parts of the world, it may be important to consider variation in psychosocial and mental health outcomes for different age cohorts and across different contexts.
