Shear wave ultrasound elastography in assessing the stiffness of the renal allograft parenchyma (literature review)
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: This article provides a review of current literature data on the use of shear wave ultrasound elastography in assessing the condition of the renal allograft. Currently, kidney transplantation is the most complete method of replacing the lost function of one's own kidneys, providing the highest quality of life, but it is associated with the risk of rejection. Rejection of a transplanted kidney leads to severe organ dysfunction. Today, the gold standard for diagnosing renal transplant dysfunction is histological examination of a biopsy specimen, but biopsy, being an invasive diagnostic method, has its limitations, contraindications and complications. Therefore, the emergence of an accessible and non-invasive method for assessing the function of a renal graft is relevant.
