Reversal behavior and stability of spin textures with different topologies in ultrathin films

Abstract: Topological spin textures exhibit an exceptional stability for practical devices. Here, the authors successfully generate spin textures with different topologies in an ultrathin films system. The reversal behavior and stability of these spin textures are characterized with magnetic domain imaging and magnetotransport measurements with/without a magnetic field. The authors demonstrate that a sufficiently strong anisotropy is required to stabilize the nontrivial ground states at zero field for practical spintronic applications, though the topological protection exists.
