A Component Placement Mechanism for Latency-Constrained Applications in Cloud-Edge Environments
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: We propose a component placement mechanism for latency-constrained applications in a distributed system comprising mobile edge and cloud datacenters. It maximizes the achievable processing rate of requests of an application while satisfying the acceptable maximum end-to-end latency to process each request, by placing the components of the application to optimal locations. We evaluated it by simulation and confirmed that it can find an optimal placement according to given situations. As a case study, we applied the mechanism to a V2X application and confirmed its effectiveness.
