Green Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles (Agnps) Using Aqueous Leaf Extract of Blumea Oxyodonta DC: Investigation of Antioxidant and Antiinflammatory Activity in Vitro
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: This study explore an eco-friendly and efficient method for the biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using aqueous leaf extract of Blumea oxyodonta as a reducing agent. The synthesized AgNPs were characterized using UV-Vis spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Atomic force microscopy (AFM).The UV-Vis spectrum revealed a broad Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) absorption peak at 403 nm.The FTIR analysis of the AgNPs revealed the presence of functional groups including alcohols/phenols, carboxylic acids, aromatics, secondary amines, alkanes, aliphatic phosphates and alkyl halides.SEM analysis showed that the AgNPs have a rectangular shape.Their crystalline structure was confirmed through XRD, while AFM was used to examine the surface topography of the AgNPs.The antioxidant activity of the AgNPs was demonstrated through enhanced DPPH and H2O2 radical scavenging capabilities.Their antiinflammatory properties were evidenced by the inhibition of protein denaturation and proteinase activity. These findings strongly indicate that the AgNPs synthesized using Blumea oxyodonta leaves hold significant potential for various biomedical applications.
