Abstract: This review offers what is probably the first known record of a production of Maid’s Metamorphosis, a play published in 1600 which was performed by the Children of Paul’s. This production was directed by Perry Mills for Edward’s Boys, an all-boys company of King Edward VI School, Stratford-upon-Avon. It was performed in Montpellier in two different venues. The review considers the aesthetics of the performance, the shaping ethics of ensemble, the exploration of gender as a question of identity, and audience reception. The play is currently being edited for publication by Agnès Lafont and Lindsay Ann Reid.
