Abstract: Climate migration refers to migration driven by the impact of sudden weather events (eg, hurricanes and floods) or gradual climate-exacerbated disasters (eg, rising temperatures and fluctuating rainfall). The frequency and intensity of weather shifts such as these is expected to increase as a result of anthropogenic climate change, which will likely exacerbate the ongoing global migration crisis. In their new study, Julia Li Zhu (San Diego State University, CA, USA) and colleagues delve into the specifics and examine how extreme weather influenced undocumented migration between Mexico and the USA between 1992 and 2018.
