The role of the breeding and seed center in increasing the profitability of horticulture and nursery

Abstract: The article discusses the Selection and Seed Center in the field of fruit and berry crops, created at the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution of the Federal Research Center of Horticulture. The goals of creating the center, the characteristics of its activities are presented, the effects of the center's activities in reducing losses from the death of infected fruit plantings and the cost of producing planting material are considered. The profitability of types of activities in nursery farming was analyzed according to the consolidated financial statements of agricultural organizations. Seedlings of seed crops have the highest profitability, they also have the highest yield. The costs of laying and caring for perennial plantings were analyzed, the dependence of the level of profitability of the products of nurseries of fruit and berry plantations on cost elements per 1 ha was shown. The selection and seed center plays an important role in import substitution, ensures the receipt of more than 500 thousand pieces of planting material of the highest quality categories annually.
