Main Directions of the Methodology Socio-economic Forecasting

Abstract: It is difficult to deny the positive significance of forecasting methods in various spheres of human activity at their current stage of development, and especially, taking into account the pace of scientific and technological progress, when applying these methods uses not only accumulated experience and intuition, but also complex mathematical models, the latest information developments and high-tech software. The use of forecasting methods makes it possible to determine the directions and trends in any phenomena or systems, as well as to assess the possibility of changes in any processes, calculating their probability and alternatives, and allows you to make informed decisions and draw conclusions. This article reveals the essence of the forecasting process, examines the role of forecasting in management decision-making and the main directions of socio-economic forecasting. Scenario planning is considered in detail as one of the methods of socio-economic forecasting.
