Abstract: The rapid development of the districts of St. Petersburg and adjacentterritories makes it necessary to strengthen the existing transport links andinfrastructure. Under these conditions, light rail transport (LRT) becomes one ofthe preferred directions for the favorable functioning of the city and the region. Theintroduction of "smart" multiple unit rolling stock for urban and suburban railwaylines will solve a number of many problems, but at the same time, developers needto take into account modern requirements for these pieces of equipment.
