Abstract: The paper presents data on the content of alpha-amylase in the blood serum of 52 black-and-white cows aged 2 lactation, grown in Western Siberia. The distribution of the enzyme content was different from normal, the median was 8.95 E/l, which is lower than the generally accepted physiological values. Given that the animals were healthy, the median value may be optimal for the gene pool of the black-and-white breed of cows in the West Siberian region.
