Abstract: Multi-Drug Resistance Single atoms of manganese, tightly bonded to carboxylated nitrogen-doped graphene, exhibit potent antibacterial properties against both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. Targeting the biomolecules of the outer bacterial membrane, the new “single-atom” engineered antibiotic effectively bypasses the development of bacterial resistance and heals infected wounds in vivo, while remaining non-toxic to human cells.
