Abstract: Information: Increasing awareness to the climate crisis among physicians in Asia Oceania.Climate change is associated with many short and long-term health effects, both physical and mental, across the human lifespan. It can manifest its effects either directly through environmental shocks (floods, droughts, wildfires) or indirectly through socially mediated effects (pollution, food and water insecurity, human migration and conflict). Not surprisingly, it has been described as the "biggest global health threat of the 21st century", and will surpass the dire health effects of wars and pandemics. The perinatal period is particularly sensitive to the effects of climate change and can lead to immediate and long-term intergenerational consequences to both the mother and child. While adaptation and mitigation efforts need to be put in place, social injustice cannot be ignored if we are to make a difference for the future of our planet and humanity. The physician's voice is a trusted one especially in terms of advocacy, and any action no matter how small will have a significant impact due to the "butterfly effect."FIGO has been collaborating with AOFOG over the last 2 years to increase awareness and sensitize physicians to potential advocacy efforts to mitigate the climate crisis.
