Abstract: Currently, Augmented Reality (AR) facilitates interaction between virtual environments and the physical world, allowing both to blend seamlessly through technological devices such as webcams, mobile phones (iOS or Android), tablets, among others (Grapsas, 2019). Therefore, the aim is to develop an augmented reality project to promote tourism in a municipality of the state of Puebla. For this purpose, an analysis of the different types of augmented reality available will be carried out, including marker-based augmented reality, geolocation-based augmented reality, object recognition and projected augmented reality, with the aim of providing a better experience for tourists. This article presents the different characteristics of each type of AR, showing application examples, and some of the tools necessary for the development of augmented reality applications.
